Upon entering, always become familar with the posted EHS Procedures & Response Guide which has specific information to respond to emergencies and make oneself aware of safety regulations.

Rules for booking equipment:
If you booked shared equipment without indicating your email address and lab affiliation your booking is invalid and will be removed.
People from outside of BCMP, non-quad laboratories can only book equipment 7 days in advance.

Liquid nitrogen is available at two locations, they are in the C Bldg, Rm. 310 and C Bldg, across from Rm. 207. Please follow all safety regulations, use the face shields that are available and bring your own cryo gloves.

Dark Room, located in C-211A.  Please check that no other person is using the dark room before entering.  In addition to the online sign-up, there is a flip sign outside the darkroom for you to indicate that it is occupied. Sign up using this calendar link: Sign up for Dark Room 211A

Typhoon 5 biomolecular imager (capable of both fluorescence imaging and phosphorimaging) – (BCMP and Cell Bio shared instrument)  Users must be trained.  Please contact Patrick Dennett for information and new instructions related to current work environment with COVID-19 safety considerations.

BD Accuri flow cytometer, located in LHRRB 209. All users must be trained by Emily Egan prior to use. Access to the sign-up calendar will be granted after training. Details about the machine can be found here.

SONY SH800 cell sorters (BCMP and Cell Bio shared instrument and Kruse Lab/BCMP shared instrument). These FACS machines can sort bacteria, yeast, and mammalian cells, All BCMP users must contact Anthony Banks for training and access to the calendar. Details about the machine can be found here.

The Center for Macromolecular Interactions (CMI) is a shared instrument facility in the BCMP department for biophysical characterization of macromolecules and their interactions.  Technologies at the CMI include:

Applied Biosystems 7500 FAST Real Time PCR System, located in C2-355 (Struhl lab). To reserve time on the machine, sign up using the Google calendar on the computer located in 325 (ask anyone in the lab for help).  Please limit your time to no more than 3 hours during weekday working hours (defined as 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM).  You may sign up for additional slots with the understanding that you may have to give them up upon request to anyone who hasn't used their PCR time allotment for the day.  In order to claim such slots, the person needing the slots must contact the person holding the extra slot(s) no later than 30 minutes prior to the start time of the slot.  On weekends, please be considerate and don't reserve an unreasonable amount of time.
If you must cancel a reserved time slot, please do it well IN ADVANCE.
IF YOU DON'T KNOW HOW TO USE THE MACHINE, please talk to Joe Geisberg, (C2-355).  DON'T attempt to use it if you haven't been trained.  BE VERY CAREFUL NOT TO CONTAMINATE THE INSTRUMENT.  Report any problems to Joe Geisberg
