Facilities Group Back-up cold storage, -80 Freezers
In the unlikely event that a department experiences unexpected failure of a freezer and is unable to locate sufficient space for relocation of its contents, Facilities has made provision for emergency use freezers for a period of 30 days. The Facilities Group Backup Freezers are located in the NRB and WAB penthouses.
The authorization for access and storage in emergency freezers will be granted through the Facilities Control Center only (617.432.1901). Authorization will be provided verbally and in email with written instruction.
The authorization for content removal shall be initiated through the appropriate Facilities Operations Manager (FOM) for that building/department by contacting the FOM.
Materials stored in excess of 30 days will be charged at the rate of $50/day, regardless of the amount of contents, for an additional 15 consecutive days, at which time the materials will be discarded. Supply chain delays will be evaluated on a case by case basis by HMS Facilities. Delays in placing purchase orders for repair service or purchase is not considered a supply chain issue.
