Will you be taking the department provided buses to the retreat site? (see more info below)

We will be providing charter buses to transport us to/from the retreat site. On the first day of the retreat, we’ll have 3 buses leaving HMS at 8am and one late bus that will depart HMS at 12:30pm. For the return trip, three charter buses will depart NH at 9:30am, getting us back to the HMS campus by 12:30pm on Friday.

How many days will you attend the retreat?

List your preferred roommate/s. If they are in a lab other than your own, please include their lab name in addition to their name. Everyone will be paired up, with the exception of faculty, keynote speakers, and nursing mothers (see FAQ above). If you are a nursing mother, please email Kristen Parker at kristen_parker@hms.harvard.edu to make room arrangements.

Will you present a Lightning Talk (1 min, 1 slide; see below for explanation) about your poster?

Yes

Lightning talks occur at the end of each talk session. A lightning talk is a very brief (1 minute), ONE powerpoint slide presentation that describes your research. The purpose of the talk is to introduce yourself and your work to the department to make for a more productive poster session. Meaning, those that might have a more specific interest in your work will be aware of your presence and hopefully seek you out. The talks also serve to highlight the diverse work being done in the department for our invited guests. It is recommended that you discuss just the problem/motivation for your work and a major result. You can leave it open ended. Do not try to fit an intro, methods and full results into 1-2 minutes - the purpose is to pique interest for your poster.
